Putting Mainers First: Lower Costs, Better Jobs

Ben Midgley knows what it’s like to struggle. He grew up in a working-class family, spent time on food stamps, and worked his way up from cleaning gym equipment to leading one the nation’s most successful businesses in the fitness industry. He’s lived the challenges too many Maine families are facing right now. Electricity prices, property taxes, and housing costs are too high for Maine families, and politicians in Augusta just don’t get it.

As Governor, Ben will bring common sense and real-world experience to fix Maine’s cost-of-living crisis and rebuild our economy from the ground up. Ben is not a politician, he’s a businessman. He knows what it takes to strengthen Maine’s economy. He will focus on promoting policies that lower costs for Maine families, and strengthen Maine’s economy to attract more and better-paying jobs.

Ben will cut wasteful spending and stop the endless growth of state government that’s driving up taxes and hurting working people. While career politicians push big budgets and bigger bureaucracy, Ben will focus on results.

He’ll cut red tape, support small businesses, and attract investment to create more good-paying jobs across Maine. Ben will focus on policies that will revitalize our legacy industries, including farming, fishing and forestry.

Ben will lower energy costs and end the subsidies that line the pockets of special interest groups, at the expense of Maine families and small businesses. No Mainer should have to decide between buying groceries or paying rent.

Ben believes in the dignity of work, personal responsibility, and the power of a strong economy to lift people up, because he’s lived it. As Governor, he’ll make Maine a place where hard work pays off, families can thrive, and every Mainer has a fair shot at the American dream.
